12/3/13- Reading Street Concept Map and Type To Learn

Brattleboro History- Guest Speaker- Mr. Wheelock

Mr. Wheelock joined our class to talk about how entertainment has changed over time.  Some questions students asked:
What games did boys and girls play?
What did adults do for entertainment?
Were there clubs back then?
How were toys different and the same?
What did you do for fun in school.

We compared and contrasted life from the past to the present.

Reading Street Concept Map

Reading Street builds knowledge with literature and informational text that develops vocabulary and understanding.  The Concept Map focuses attention to the question of the week.  Students use the concept map to write about what they have learned at the end of the week study.

Math Data Collecting!

In our Math unit about data, called Survey and Line Plots students have been collecting, and organizing data into categories.   We are then interpreting the data and finding many interesting things about our classmates.  Some questions are:  What is your favorite candy bar or fruit?   Below is some math vocabulary we have been using to describe our data findings:
